Listeners heard a voice impossible to forget. “From that point on I made it a habit to understand how my voice worked to use it to the best of my ability. I think I’m lucky. I think that it comes out so naturally—the timbre and everything like that. Once again, I think it was listening to things like Freddy Mercury and Paul McCartney and Harry Nilsson. Not only is it my voice, but it was me trying to sound like those guys. Eventually they became a part of what my voice is.”
